How to Schedule Pinterest Posts with posterly
Connecting Pinterest
Connect your Pinterest business account through the Accounts page. posterly uses Pinterest's official OAuth 2.0 flow. You'll be redirected to Pinterest to approve access, then returned to posterly. A Pinterest business account is required — personal accounts don't support API publishing. Converting to a business account is free and takes a few clicks in Pinterest settings.
Creating and scheduling pins
In the Composer, select your Pinterest account, upload your image (or video), and write your pin title and description. Pinterest is a visual search engine, so the image is the most important element. Use high-quality, vertical images (2:3 aspect ratio, ideally 1000x1500px) for maximum visibility in the feed. Add a destination URL to drive traffic to your website or product page.
Boards
Select which board to pin to from the dropdown in the Composer. posterly pulls your board list from Pinterest automatically. Organising pins into relevant boards helps Pinterest's algorithm categorise and distribute your content to the right audience.
Pin descriptions and SEO
Pinterest functions as a search engine — pin descriptions are critical for discoverability. posterly's AI generates keyword-rich descriptions that help your pins rank in Pinterest search. Include relevant terms naturally in both the title (up to 100 characters) and description (up to 500 characters). The AI also suggests hashtags, though Pinterest has de-emphasised hashtags in favour of keyword-based search.
Video pins
Upload MP4 or MOV videos (up to 15 minutes, though 15-60 seconds performs best) to create video pins. Video content gets preferential placement in Pinterest's feed and tends to earn higher engagement than static images.

Pinterest engagement peaks on evenings and weekends, with Saturday seeing the highest activity.
