Schedule Instagram Posts, Stories & Reels with AI

Getting started

To schedule Instagram posts with posterly, you need an Instagram Professional account (Business or Creator). If you're still on a Personal account, switch in Instagram Settings → Account → Switch to Professional Account — it's free and takes 30 seconds.

Connect your Instagram account to posterly via the Accounts page. You'll authenticate through Meta's official OAuth flow, which also links your Facebook Page. This is required by Meta's API — posterly uses the Instagram Graph API to publish on your behalf.

Scheduling feed posts

Create a new post in the Composer, select your Instagram account, and upload your image or video. posterly validates media against Instagram's requirements automatically: square (1:1), portrait (4:5), or landscape (1.91:1) for images, and up to 60 seconds for feed videos. Add your caption, pick a date and time — or tap "Next available" to find the next open slot — and schedule.

Carousels

Upload up to 10 images or videos to create a carousel post. posterly handles the multi-image upload sequence through the Instagram API so all slides publish as a single swipeable post. Each image is automatically resized to match Instagram's aspect ratio requirements.

Reels

Upload a vertical video (9:16 aspect ratio, up to 15 minutes) and posterly will publish it as a Reel. Add a cover image, caption, and hashtags. Reels are published through Instagram's Content Publishing API with full support for sharing to your feed.

Hashtag strategy

posterly's AI can suggest relevant hashtags based on your caption and industry. A popular tactic is to keep your caption clean and add hashtags as a "first comment" — posterly supports this natively. Toggle the first-comment option in the Composer, type your hashtags there, and posterly will post them as a separate comment immediately after publishing.

Best times to post

Use the AI Agent to get personalised posting-time recommendations. It analyses your past engagement patterns and suggests windows when your audience is most active. You can also ask the AI Agent natural-language questions like "When should I post to Instagram this week?" and it will find open slots that avoid conflicts with your other scheduled content.

What happens if my token expires?

Instagram tokens issued through Meta OAuth are long-lived (60 days) and posterly refreshes them automatically. If a token does expire — for example, if you change your Facebook password — posterly will notify you and prompt you to reconnect. Any posts scheduled during the gap will retry automatically once you re-authenticate.
