What is Ship & Share?
Ship & Share is posterly's unique feature that turns your GitHub commits into social media posts. Connect your GitHub account, select a repository, and posterly will monitor your commits. When you push code, Ship & Share generates an engaging social media post from your commit message and lets you review, edit, and schedule it to any connected platform.
Connecting GitHub
Connect your GitHub account through the Ship & Share page in the dashboard. posterly uses GitHub's OAuth flow to authenticate. You'll select which repositories Ship & Share should monitor — you can connect public or private repos. posterly only reads commit data; it never modifies your code.
How it works
When you push commits to a monitored repository, Ship & Share uses AI to generate a social media post. The AI transforms technical commit messages ("fix: resolve race condition in auth middleware") into engaging, audience-friendly updates ("Just squashed a tricky authentication bug. The app is faster and more reliable now."). You can review and edit the generated post before scheduling.
Filtering commits
Not every commit deserves a social post. Ship & Share automatically filters out chore commits, dependency updates, and internal fixes. You can configure which types of commits trigger posts — focus on features, bug fixes, and milestones that your audience cares about.
